We support Leatha 100% as she is the best qualified and most deserving for this position. Please read her credentials and help spread the word in this upcoming and important election!Congratulations Leatha! 🎉
This week marks the end of Qualifying Week for the upcoming election on August 23. Leatha’s name is officially on the ballot for Circuit Judge, Group 2!

Leatha is pictured with Case Manager Nancy Luna and Magistrate Assistant Alison Mendoza upon her departure as General Magistrate.

Up until this week, Leatha served as General Magistrate and Child Support Enforcement Hearing Officer for a total of over five years for the 19th Judicial Circuit.

Because Leatha is running for Circuit Judge, she was required to ‘resign to run’ upon qualifying pursuant to the court rules that do not allow a current sitting Magistrate or Hearing Officer to run for state office.

Leatha believes becoming your next Circuit Judge is worth the sacrifice of stepping down as Magistrate. Leatha is ready to continue serving the citizens of the 19th Judicial Circuit in a new role as Circuit Judge.

She has served the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee County for more than 25 years.

Leatha first came to the 19th Circuit in 1997 as an Assistant State Attorney from the 5th Circuit of Florida. After prosecuting cases for over five years, Leatha opened her own law firm in downtown Fort Pierce and ran a thriving practice there for more than 17 years. During that tenure, she litigated criminal cases and established a successful family law practice expanding it to Include investigating cases as a guardian ad litem and becoming a Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator.

In 2017, Leatha was appointed and sworn in as Child Support Enforcement Hearing Officer where she heard over 15,000 cases in Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee and St. Lucie Counties involving the establishment, modification, and enforcement of child support.

In 2020, she was appointed to replace retiring Magistrate Katharine Hammond as Magistrate of the 19th Circuit assigned to Indian River and St. Lucie Counties.

Leatha has served our community as:

~Assistant State Attorney;
~Criminal Defense counsel;
~Civil & Family Law practitioner;
~Guardian Ad Litem;
~Supreme Court Certified Family Law Mediator; and
~Magistrate/Hearing Officer hearing thousands of cases involving Family; Child Support; Dependency; Mental Health; and Truancy.

When it comes time to cast your vote for Circuit Judge, Group 2, remember that

EXPERIENCE MATTERS.

Leatha would appreciate your vote to elect her as our next Circuit Judge, 19th Judicial Circuit, Group 2.

Thank you for your support. 🇺🇸
